Nutrition Essentials: Water

Where there is water, there is life. In the body, water helps to break down the food you eat aiding digestion and also carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells. Water flushes out toxins and pathogens helping to support your immune system. It is a protective mechanism for organs, tissues and joints. It is an essential part of temperature regulation as well as a facilitator in proper sodium balance.


Proper hydration is required for our bodies to complete these essential tasks. Unfortunately, studies show that nearly 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. Chronic dehydration leads to chronic fatigue. So what happens when we are not properly hydrated and we are asking our bodies to do more than these basic tasks? We struggle. We struggle to get started. We struggle to stay motivated. We struggle to be consistent. We struggle to be successful in reaching our wellness goals.


The good news is that can change. Start building a foundation for simple, sustainable wellness. Start with water; water with every meal and every snack. Keep building from there!
